Parliament Wellness Day - 25/26 May 2005

Medscheme recently hosted a wellness event at Parliament in Cape Town, as part of their member care focus. The aim was to offer the Parliamentarians attending budget speeches the opportunity to experience a wellness event and to gain insight into their current health status, with the aim of rolling the concept to other areas. The opportunity was given for attendees to have a health assessment with feedback on current health status together with recommendations on how to improve their health. Medscheme used MedBenefit’s experience in putting together wellness days as a vehicle for the event and the basis of the wellness event was the MedBenefit ENTRO screening. The ENTRO identifies high health risk, by encouraging the completion of a questionnaire, together with having blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol levels checked and BMI (Body Mass Index) measures taken. Each individual that completed a MedBenefit ENTRO screening would be sent a brief and personal health status report, highlighting areas of health risk and tips for improvement. Both days were very well attended with 300 people undergoing the screening and being able to take the opportunity to find out more about their health.

Other health disciplines that attended the event included optometrists, Indian head and shoulder massage, and health related information being provided by the HIV/AIDS disease management programme - Aid for AIDS, RELODE and the MedBenefit internet based health and wellness programme My-Wellness.

Board of Health Care Funders (BHF) conference – Sun City 13/14 June 2005

As part of the BHF conference held at Sun City, MedBenefit attended as part in the Solutio Health Risk Management exhibition to carry out MedBenefit ENTRO screenings for delegates. Solutio’s member care focus made it imperative that delegates be given the opportunity to learn more about their health and wellness and gain tips for improvement. As in the past, the Solutio Health Risk Management stand was very well attended with over 100 delegates undergoing the MedBenefit ENTRO screening. This year Indian Head and Shoulder massage was made available as part of the Solutio Health Risk Management stand, giving delegates an opportunity for some relaxation from conference attendance.
